  • Saturday 20th April

    The rain has arrived.

Woke to a heavy downfall, but no wind.

Shoshannah learnt to change a light bulb this morning.

Her bedroom light blew as she turned it on.

Normally it would be 'Dad, can you change my light bulb?', but this time is was 'Mum, ........?' and I was like 'get a stool and a new bulb and go change it.'

So after a few return trips to the bedroom to find out why and how to remove said bulb from the light fitting she successfully changed it.

Now I know why there are so many blonde jokes about light bulbs laughing

While I showered - yes I actually got out of my pjs today silly - Shoshannah got the wwoofers processing the apples and pears.

The chickens had been getting into them over past days and they seriously needed doing.

Good job for a wet day.

Anson arrived and took Etienne and Pierre up to split wood for the morning.

Nils & Aylin stayed and helped me in the kitchen.

We had a very busy few hours.

Cooked up three large pots of fruit.

Made some into a pear and kiwifruit crumble and froze the rest.

We made 2 large Malayan Fish dishes, prepared veges for some casseroles and made a large pot of vegetable soup.

Anson got the meat sorted for dinner.

I went up to have a look at his boar.

It weighed in at 106lbs and had a good pair of tusks on him.

No wonder one of his bitches is not feeling great today.
She got on the wrong end of this big fella sad

The dogs were waiting patiently for Anson.

Azzan took responsibility for the washing today.

He then did some research on dogs - specifically different terrier types.

Marah came round for a visit.

She and Mahalia had a girlie time with nail polish.

Cooked up corn on cob for lunch - I managed to burn it - duh!

By lunch time I was exhausted so as soon as everything was cleaned up I headed off to bed.

Anson took Marah home for a rest and then came back to skin the pig.

I watched a couple of episodes of 'Bomb Girls'.

It was a wet afternoon so the kids watched 'Kiwi Flier'.

Marah & Anson came round for dinner.

There were a lot of crazy antics as per usual when there is a big bro and 3 younger siblings in the same room at the same time clueless

Pierre, Nils & Etienne did the dinner dishes.

    Pierre conducting dismissing the paparazzi!

    Etienne

     Shoshannah and Aylin.

    Aylin is besotted with Archie.

She diligently feeds him three times a day, even if that means the third time is after dinner, in the dark, on a wet night.

    Crazy woman laughing

We had a measure up of the girls tonight.

Then had to convert from metric to imperial because centimetres really doesn't speak to our brains.

We measure in metrics but think in imperial.

So I did the conversions on my laptop converter just because it was easier than doing the brainiac stuff tonight!

Marah had to control Anson as he was totally normal out of control  clueless

And the results are that Shoshannah is now 5' 10.5"

    and Mahalia is 5' 10"

    Wow!

We knew she had grown but even she was amazed at how much in such a short time.

    A&M went off home.

    The kids headed to bed.

The wwoofers left the house and then Jesika called up.

So I had a chat with her before hopping into my bed and watching some more of 'Bomb Girls' whilst eating my dinner.

  • How tall are you, Raewyn?  My goodness, she's a tall girl! I'm an ample 5' 2" (when I'm not slouching like an old willow!).

Was the boar ringed? Ouch.Anson brought home the bacon! ;)

  • @alehoo - I'm 5' 8" Alexis. It was a wild boar so no rings. Hence the ripped up dog :-/

  • Oh my! Poor pup.  I hope she's okay...

Your Timmy towered over you & you're 5' 8"?! He must have been your personal cedar! How fab, yet bittersweet. It is lovely how he keeps living on in the features of your beautiful family, Raewyn.  Simply marvelous how God created Tim so strong and handsome, to pass those outward gems on; and to have wisely spent the precious time instilling his heart in them, also. Sending hugs!Be well, friend. :)

  • @alehoo - Tim was 6' 6" - I like your description - yes, he was my personal cedar xxx
