  • Wednesday 13th March

I sat up in bed early this morning and typed up an assessment of some of our mussel lines in the hopes we can get some reaction and action.

Good job to start the day and get me fired up with enthusiasm!

I was anticipating a busy day processing vegetables.

But they didn't arrive last night so changes were made to the schedule.

I asked Adina to clean the ranch sliders in my bedroom.

They had gotten all damp and mildewy - so that kept her busy for a while and now I have lovely clean windows.

I actually made it through the shower before breakfast - amazing!

The weather has cooled down a tad so I had to rummage through my drawers to find some other clothing.

Found this top which really did say it all for me today!

Seb came over so I got him to check over the assessment I had typed out before I emailed it off.

Then Anson breezed in with groceries for me.

He and Marah had had a good couple of days in town.

All is good with the baby so they are happy.

I got Adina & Rainy to peel pears.

They did mountains of them so I decided that I really should preserve them.

Shoshannah had picked all the basil so had to wash it in preparation for making pesto.

The preserving jars were stored in the meatsafe and were all dusty so needed washing and then heating.

Rainy did that job for me while I got the seals etc all ready to go.

Shoshannah was lighting the fire for me so I could keep the jars warm etc.

It is a few seasons since I did any preserving so I had to stop and think it through for a moment.

Cat was trying to rebuild shelves at the same time.

So for a while it was rather chaotic in the kitchen as everyone was trying to do their jobs over top of others.

It looked a bit like we were playing 'Twisterlaughing

Anyway, by lunch time I had all these jars done.

I was too tired to preserve anymore so when Leann started preparing to peel more fruit I canned that operation until tomorrow morning.

I had found Azzan sitting on his bed before lunch.
He was feeling flat and not wanting to do anything.

I suggested that he should take a dvd and quietly pop around to visit Marah.

    So he did just that.

He came back later and told me he had helped her clean up the verandah and get lots of firewood in and then they were tired enough to sit and watch the movie with Mahalia.

The rest of the crew all went out grubbing weeds.

I went to bed, watched a dvd and slept.

Leann had organised dinner so we ate sometime after 7pm.

Then after dinner we introduced Rainy & Chad to our 'Celtic Women' and 'Celtic Thunder' dvds.

We are sad that they have to leave tomorrow.

I haven't spent much time in the study lately.

I have been doing most of my business/work on my laptop in my bed or at the kitchen table.

I had asked Cat not to empty the rubbish bin in there cuz I knew hoped there was a note from Tim in there that I really wanted to find.

Tonight I finally manged to empty the bin and go through all the rubbish.

    I found it.

    Right at the bottom.

Not too long ago Tim had gone away for a night or two and I had found this note on my pillow.

Of course it meant a lot to me then, but not enough to keep it bummed

When I finally found it and reread the words I started to cry.

    I am still crying.

Tim didn't write much so this is precious to me now.

Azzan was very huggy again tonight.

He has a wee cry each time I tuck him in.

Mahalia is choosing to sleep in Shoshannah's room.

Azzan just came in to see me.

He said he just needed another hug.

So we hugged and he looked at a photo Bri just posted on her FB wall of his Daddy taken 20 years ago with Phoebe beside him.

Never thought back then that she would be his precious daughter-in-law now!

Then he was okay to go back to bed.

  • i'm so glad you found that note! i've been married for 30 years and jeff doesn't write much either, i have hid away a few things he has.  you guys have me motivated to preserve something!!!! hmmmmm....we still have snow on the ground, so i may have to wait a bit.  it is wonderful to see everyone working together.--karen

  • Stella leaves me little messages like that often. The few occasions one of us has to go somewhere without the other I will find a note fall out of a book or my wallet, or under the pillow.  Those are keepers!
