  • Waitangi Day & after

    Monday 6th February

Tim was up with the larks and out working on the boat.
He had a lot of float work to do so was intent on getting as much done as possible before leaving for town.
I got myself ready and thought I was driving the Terrano out and Tim would be following in the Safari.
The plan had been that the Safari would be left in town for Cat to get a WoF for and then to bring home next weekend.
However, we all know what happens to plans
Anson arrived around and suggested that Tim could take his truck out and pick up some roofing he needed.
Which meant I would have to drive the Safari.
I was in a bit of a dither.
Couldn't really get my head in the right place to make decisions as my back was incredibly sore and I could barely move without pain.
In the end I had to call the shots as the morning was disappearing and Tim was still on the boat and I had to leave if I was going to get the things done I needed to do in town.
So I loaded Azzan into the Safari.
Nathan's bike was already loaded in as we were taking it to town to have work done on it as he will be needing it for transport once he moves.
I picked up Marah and her dog Rea from Anson's.
I was crying with pain the whole way up the road.
Anson lent me a pillow to support my back which did help.
It was good to have Marah to talk to on the way out as it distracted me from the pain each time we went over a bump etc.
We got to town and had time to zoom around the supermarket.
Loaded everything on board then dropped Marah & Rea home.
Had just enough time to make it out to Richmond to meet up with Errilyn at 3pm.
I had run out of time to take the bike to Hope though.
Azzan & I were really hungry so we munched our way through a bowl of nachos.
Errilyn & her wee Malachi had come back from Western Australia for a weeding and had a few days to catch up with family and friends so I was thrilled to be able to fit in an hour to see her.
The other bonus blessing was that she was heading out past Hope and offered to drop off the bike for me.

We were due to be at Richmond New Life church at 4pm to attend a bbq to honour and celebrate the 30th wedding anniversary of our very special friends, Ross & Andrea.
I picked up Sasha and we arrived at the church around 4pm and just chilled out.
Tim had left home after me and brought Magdalena out with him.
I managed to locate him when he dropped her off to let him know where to meet me as we had been so busy I had omitted to tell him where exactly the bbq was being held - duh!

He had a few things to do so never turned up till nearly 6pm.
There was a lovely group of about 30 of us there.

We enjoyed a delicious bbq dinner together.

Then Ross and Andrea shared about the 30 days to 30 years adventure that Ross had instigated over the month leading up to tonight.
    It was lovely

We had a group photo taken outside and then wandered back in for dessert.
I 'caught' Charlotte & Andrea having a mother and daughter discussion

    Dessert was delectable.

The evening soon drew to a close and Tim needed to head back home.
I had decided I should stay in town and try to get my back seen to.
So Azzan & I went and spent the night with Sasha.

    Tuesday 7th February

I was up early and out the door around 7:30am.
Headed in to get the warrant of fitness done on the Safari.
That all went smoothly and for once it passed without having to have anything done.

We then went to Azzan's choice of cafe for the 'best breakfast ever'.
Yello Cafe in Trafalgar St produced two delicious omelettes which kept both of us happy for a few hours.
I had gotten an appointment at 11am so got Azzan sorted at the library and then headed off to see Scott.
He spent an hour giving my back a thorough going over.
I could move a lot better afterwards but it still has a long way to go before I am bouncing around.

I went and picked up Azzan and his huge pile of books.
Then we grabbed him a burger for lunch and headed out to visit Estelle for a couple of hours.
Plans for later in the arvo changed because of varying circumstances.
So I dallied at Estelle's for longer which was nice.
Then I went and picked up Marah and we went out to Sasha's to meet up with her and Cat, who had just arrived up from Christchurch.
We chilled and chatted till around 6pm.
Then I took Marah home and Azzan & I picked up some groceries and dinner and went to see Phoebe.
By the end of the day it is so easy to just and relax over dinner and then all too soon it is very late and we are heading home at 9pm again!
    We arrived back at 11:30pm.
    Azzan went straight to bed.
I unloaded the frozen items then fell into the spa for a few moments before collapsing into bed.
